Brief history of DIBS: Originally known as Billy the Blue Demon, he decided that as DePaul switched to the Big East, he needed a change himself, so he now goes by the name of DIBS.
Why the Blue Demon is our mascot: Before WWI and WWII DePaul had a football team, and their letterman jackets had a blue monogram "D" on it. A local newspaper began referring to the DePaul football players as the Blue D Men, and over the years it evolved into the Blue Demons.
