Louisville Cardinals 60 at St. John's 47
Date: 02/08/09
Game Summary
Jerry Smith scored a season-high 21 points and No. 5 Louisville came up with another outstanding defensive effort in a 60-47 victory over St. John's on Sunday.

It certainly wasn't a great offensive day for the Cardinals (18-4, 9-1 Big East), who were coming off their first conference loss of the season to No. 1 Connecticut. Smith had 19 points in the second half to match Louisville's total in the first half, its lowest of the season, as the Cardinals trailed 22-19 at the half at Madison Square Garden.

Earl Clark had 10 of his 12 points in the second half for the Cardinals, who shot 38.5 percent from the field (20-for-52), including 3-for-17 from 3-point range. Sean Evans had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Red Storm (12-11, 3-8), who have lost three of four. St. John's shot 31.1 percent for the game (19-for-61), including 2-for-12 on 3s.

Louisville Cardinals 57 at Notre Dame 90
Date: 02/12/09
Game Summary
Luke Harangody had 32 points and 17 rebounds and Notre Dame shot 54 percent, the best any team has shot against Louisville this season, as the Fighting Irish won 90-57 to end a seven-game losing streak.

The 33-point victory is the largest ever for Notre Dame (13-10, 4-7 Big East) against a league opponent. It was the second loss in three games for the Cardinals (18-5, 9-2).

Ryan Ayers added 19 points for Notre Dame and Tory Jackson had 14. Terrence Williams, Louisville's leading scorer at 13 points a game, struggled for a second straight game with a bruised right wrist. After scoring three points against St. John's, he didn't make his first shot from the field until there was 13:23 left in the game and the Cardinals were down by 20. He finished with five points.

Louisville Cardinals 99 Vs. DePaul 54
Date: 02/15/09
Game Summary
Louisville got back on the winning side, while it was more of the same old losing for DePaul.
The fifth-ranked Cardinals started out all business on Sunday against the Blue Demons but by the end it was all fun for the Cardinals, who had a season-high point total in a 99-54 victory. The loss was the 13th straight for DePaul (8-18, 0-13 Big East), matching its worst streak ever. The Cardinals (19-5, 10-2) were coming off their worst loss of the season, 90-57 to Notre Dame, an embarrassment, coach Rick Pitino called it. Pitino didn't even want his team wearing their school's name.

Louisville Cardinals 94 Vs. Providence 76
Date: 02/18/09
Game Summary
Terrence Williams had 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds as No. 7 Louisville overcame a shaky first half and pulled away for a 94-76 victory over Providence on Wednesday night.
Edgar Sosa led the Cardinals (20-5, 11-2 Big East) with 18 points, Samardo Samuels added 17 and Earl Clark had 13 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Louisville moved into a three-way tie for second place in the conference with No. 4 Pittsburgh and No. 10 Marquette behind No. 1 Connecticut. Providence (16-10, 8-6) was hoping to put a signature win on its NCAA tournament resume, but had no answer in the second half. Jonathan Kale, Sharaud Curry and Weyinmi Efejuku had 15 points each for the Friars, who couldn't sustain the strong shooting that carried them to a slim halftime lead. Louisville coach Rick Pitino - who coached the Friars to the Final Four in 1987 - improved to 4-0 all-time against his former team.

Louisville Cardinals 76 at Georgetown 58
Date: 02/23/09
Game Summary
Earl Clark scored 22 points, and No. 6 Louisville overcame 16 turnovers with good defense and solid 3-point shooting Monday night in a 76-58 victory over Georgetown that moved the Cardinals into a tie for first place in the Big East.
The Cardinals started 9-for-9 from the field - their first miss coming nearly 11 minutes in - and were 7-for-7 from 3-point range well into the second half. The marksmanship was more of a necessity than a luxury because they were so careless with the ball, but the initial shooting burst was enough to build a lead that kept Georgetown at bay throughout the second half. Samardo Samuels, Terrence Williams and Preston Knowles added 10 points apiece for the Cardinals (22-5, 13-2), who have won four straight and are tied with Connecticut atop the conference standings. Louisville had a 17-point first-half lead cut to eight in the second half and shot only 15-for-35 after the 9-for-9 start, but the defense forced 14 Georgetown turnovers and held the Hoyas to 31 percent shooting in the second half. Chris Wright scored 12 points, and Greg Monroe had 10 for the Hoyas (14-12, 5-10), who have lost nine of 11 as they continue their challenging spin through the nation's basketball elite. Georgetown has now played six teams currently ranked in the top 10, and they'll make it seven against No. 10 Villanova on Saturday. The Hoyas are 2-4 in those games. The loss also dropped the Hoyas to 12th place in the Big East, just six weeks after they were ranked No. 9 in the country. Louisville, meanwhile, avenged a 55-52 loss to Georgetown in the game that decided the Big East regular-season title a year ago.
