"Born Ready: http://www.fromthisseat.com http://www.snybigeasthoopswiki.com/video/6470931/BornReady.TV%2C+Lance+Stephenson%2C+%22Promo%22 Can't wait to see Lance Stephenson, aka, 'Born Ready' play Big East Conference basketball for Cincy!" Dude was a beast. I only live an hour from Cincinnati and never took the time to check him out. I regret that. Wish he would have stayed longer and developed into a more complete player. These players don't want to wait these days though. That's why both the NCAA and the NBA are suffering talent wise. Imagine if all Mcdonald's all american went to college for four years what kind of games we would have.

Georgetown to play Washington in Wooden Classic. Georgetown will play its first West Coast game in eight years against Washington, and UCLA plays Mississippi State in the 16th annual John R. Wooden Classic on Dec. 12.
The complete field for the doubleheader at Honda Center was announced Wednesday.
Georgetown hasn't played in California since visiting UCLA in 2001. It will be the Hoyas' first meeting with defending Pac-10 champion Washington.
The Huskies return to the doubleheader named for the former UCLA coach for the second time. In 2005, they beat New Mexico State.
The Bruins and Bulldogs will meet in the second game. UCLA is 9-3 in 12 Wooden Classic appearances. Mississippi State played in the 2004 event, losing to Arizona.
Should be a terrific game!

9 of the 60 players taken in the draft came out of the conference, including 2 apiece from Louisville, Pitt and UConn. 4 Big East players went in the 1st rd, led by 7-foot-3 UConn C Hasheem Thabeet, who was taken at No. 2 by Memphis. In Thabeet's native Tanzania, people crowded into bars in the middle of the night to watch the 1st player from their country drafted into the NBA. Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim puts Thabeet in the same category defensively with Patrick Ewing and Alonzo Mourning. 2 players from the Louisivlle team that was the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament went after Syracuse G Jonny Flynn went #6 to Minnesota. The Nets took F Terrence Williams at No. 11, and Phoenix selected F Earl Clark, a Rahway, N.J., native, at No. 14. Williams, the emotional leader last year, will join the Nets in the post-Vince Carter era, after Carter was traded to Orlando. Nova F Dante Cunningham was chosen No. 33 by Portland and Georgetown wing DaJuan Summers went 2 picks later to Detroit. 2 Pitt players expected to go in the 1sr round fell to the 2nd. F Sam Young went No. 36 to Memphis and DeJuan Blair, the Co-Big East Player of the Year along with Thabeet, was chosen at No. 37 by San Antonio. Blair saw his draft stock plummet because he has a limited offensive repertoire and has had 2 ACL surgeries. Still, various experts believe he'll be a force in the league. The 6-6 Blair manhandled Thabeet during 1 game in Hartford last season won by the Panthers. When UConn guard A.J. Price of Amityville, N.Y., went at No. 52 to Indiana, it completed a big evening for the Big East.

Pitt is personally my favorite team and I think Blair should have stayed. And also what is this about Sam Young being drafted a little late!? Sam Young and Blair were Pitt's Best players! And they made it to the Elite 8! They were drafted really late

Excellent article below about the next wave of Big East recruits who may want to play college basketball in the NCAA's best conference:
http://web.sny.tv/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090706&content_id=5723624&oid=2&vkey=21
Any ideas where some of these recruits might end up? UConn, Pitt and Louisville will be in the mix after this year's NBA draft left them hungry for equal talent.

Hasheem Thabeet has decided to give up his final season of college eligibility and enter the NBA Draft. Hasheem Thabeet is fresh off averaging 13.6 points, 10.8 boards and 4.2 blocks. The 7-foot-3 center from Tanzania said Tuesday that he made the decision after speaking to family, friends and coach Jim Calhoun.
"I have had a great experience at Connecticut and cannot thank my coaches and teammates enough," Thabeet said in a statement released by the school. "I look forward to the challenge of playing professionally and know that my time here at UConn has prepared me to be successful in the future." Thabeet had been playing organized basketball for less than five years when he came to Connecticut from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Africa by way of the Cypress Christian School in Houston.
The Big East Conference and Huskies are going to miss you Thabeet!

The Huskies celebrated their return to the top of the polls for the first time in three years with a 68-51 dismantling of No. 5 Louisville on Monday night. Hasheem Thabeet added 14 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks as the Huskies won on the road. It was the way he controlled the biggest game of the year which now makes him a legitmate #1 NBA draft pick consideration. He nailed his open 15 foot jump shot, made Louisville's 6-10' Center turn away from a 2 foot shot and dominated inside the paint similiar to how the mighty Patrick Ewing once did in past Big East Conference days. The wild thing is he has only played four years of organized ball. The skies the limit with Thabeet. Anybody see him play in person or watch him progress over his career please add to this thread below. Look forward to hearing what fans have to say about Thabeet, what a emerging talent and enormous difference maker!

Notre Dame 6. Louisville 7. Cincinnati 8. Pittsburgh 9. Seton Hall 10. Georgetown 11. St. John's 12. Marquette 13. Rutgers 14. Providence 15. South Florida 16. DePaul
#1 Nova will be National Title tough. Can #6 Louisville really stay near the top? #8 Pitt sure drops and so does #10 GT. I predict ND is overrated at #5, watch out for #11 St. John's and #3 UConn just keeps on doing what they do best, winning big games!

Connecticut basketball coach Jim Calhoun was hospitalized Saturday after he collapsed following a 50-mile charity bicycle ride during which he fell and broke five ribs. Calhoun, 67, was taken to the UConn Health Center in Farmington, where he was listed in good condition. He was to be held overnight for observation and released Sunday, said Maureen McGuire, a hospital spokeswoman. McGuire said Calhoun told her he hit a pothole and fell with about 16 miles to go in the ride.``He got back on the bike and finished the ride,'' she said. ``Obviously, he's in extremely good physical shape. It was after he finished the ride, he was talking to some people and he did faint.'' At the hospital, the Hall-of-Famer was told he had broken ribs during the fall. He had to be talked out of driving by family and friends, including former UConn player and Boston Celtics star Ray Allen.
The annual Jim Calhoun Cancer Challenge Ride includes rides of 10, 25 and 50 miles. Organizers say it has raised almost $500,000 to benefit the Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Connecticut Health Center and Coaches vs. Cancer, a program established in 1993 by the American Cancer Society. Calhoun is a three-time cancer survivor. A year ago, he underwent surgery and radiation treatments for squamous cell cancer, a type of skin cancer. Calhoun, who has led Connecticut to three Final Fours and national titles in 1999 and 2004, missed the Huskies' first NCAA tournament game in March after being hospitalized for dehydration. Connecticut lost to Michigan State in the national semifinals. Calhoun, who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005, has a career record of 805-342, good enough for sixth place on the NCAA Division I career wins list. He is 557-205 at Connecticut.
Get well Coach Calhoun!

Scottie Reynolds, a one-time Big East freshman of the year, has made a decision to end his career as a senior leader for Nova and coach Jay Wright.
Reynolds, the point guard leader who in March led Villanova to its first Final Four appearance since the Wildcats won the 1985 national championship, announced Tuesday he has removed his name from the NBA draft and will return for his final college season. Reynolds averaged 15.2 points per game last season as a junior. His scamper down the court and layup with 0.5 seconds left stunned top-seeded Pittsburgh in the NCAA regional final before the Wildcats lost in the national semifinals to eventual champion North Carolina.
This will help Nova get back to the 2010 Final Four!
